Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Engineer working for Hepburn and Sons LLC, you will be assigned as part of our technical work force to support and grow our engineering capabilities and support our customers in the maritime industry, the United States Navy, and United States Air Force. You will be expected to:

  • Regularly practice professional business acumen and perform assigned program tasks in terms of quality, cost control, and achievement of technical, schedule, performance and contractual objectives
  • Keep upper management informed regarding program status and any technical, cost, schedule, or administrative problems within assigned programs
  • Establish, maintain and promote good customer relationships; ensure the coordination of work tasks with customer representatives; and ensure customers are informed on status and progress of assigned technical programs

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position requires joining our Warfare Systems Development team of engineers and scientists to support, design, qualify, and test weapons and sensors onboard Navy platforms. In this role, your responsibilities will include solving complex problems and contributing innovative solutions to integration challenges on surface ships and submarines. The primary focus for this position will be Medium Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) distribution systems. The engineer will determine availability, feasibility and characteristics of components including identification of alternatives, establish the needs, interface requirements, and determine level of validation tests desired. The engineer will also participate in collaboration activities and work with team members to ensure proper design effectiveness and identify process improvements by studying requirements, analyzing various solutions, and prototyping. You will be responsible for conducting modeling and simulation, as required, and deliver reports with a thorough understanding of the analysis, risk assessments, integration, and testing. You will provide honest and complete reporting up to mid and senior level engineering staff for assigned tasking that will be conveyed to the customer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project
  • Capability to use AutoCAD, SPICE, and other design tools
  • Adept writing abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to plan projects and track budgets
  • Familiarity with circuit design and simulation
  • Driven and flexible individual with the ability to expand to new focus areas
  • Highly desired: Experience with Navy shipboard combat systems
  • Desired: Masters in Electrical Engineering
  • Desired: Proficiency in CST Studio
